Fantasy Football Obsession

My obsession with Fantasy Football is ridiculous. I am playing four leagues, participated in two live drafts (extremely drunken live drafts) two online drafts, printed, read, organized for days, and am now watching stat tracker along with the double header Monday Night Football (opening night between New England v. Buffalo & San Diego v. Oakland) game to make sure every point is accounted for by Yahoo!.

I actually have a chance going into the game for a huge comeback with Phillip Rivers, Vincent Jackson, Darren Sproles, Nate Kaeding and the San Diego Defense ALL going tonight...guess I think the Chargers are going to be a decent team this year

One reason FF is so great, the greatness of Stat Tracker. It keeps you up to speed on every other game that is going on, it shows your game versus your opponent in real time, and flashes red when your guys are in the Redzone...just brilliant.

Women have yet to understand the phenomenon that is going on with this thing, it is a huge time consumer ( not to mention...expensive), and when they catch on, they are going to freak. Unfortunately, it is too late....

Anyway, just some random thoughts....back to the game!

My Brothers Wedding - The Best Man

It is time to start thinking about my toast to my brother on his big day.... I am not sure which direction I want to go with my toast, if I want to have everyone laughing or crying or a little bit of both.

Unfortunately, my grandparents from Boston will not be there...Sal (grandpa DiFonzo) has been diagnosed with a form of cancer, not sure all the details, which we will get on Thursday, but regardless they will not be in attendance.

I think the most important thing to touch on in my toast is family. My dad is a huge family guy, and family is always first. I feel that this is his greatest attribute that he has passed on to my brother. And, Hannah is just the same, coming from a large family with all of them living in the same area, and being around each other, Michael should get a great sense of his ever expanding family.

I think Michael has come along way as a man, starting out as a quite kid in glasses, to growing into an outgoing avid concert attendee, fraternity member and outside sales rep (which I am still not sure is his calling...) Hannah, who I have come to find out is a very strong woman, with passionate feelings on everything you can imagine including sports, religion, family, and careers.

The two of them compliment each other, and this brings me to where I think my toast is going to go....

Most people tend to generalize personalities, by saying someone is introverted or extroverted, or a type A personality, and so on...I feel we are each a unique blend of the people in our lives that have the greatest influences on us, and with those influences we take what we learn from them and apply that to our daily existence.

I want to touch on the traits that Michael inherited from our parents, and the new found characteristics he is growing with Hannah. Competitive spirit, honesty and integrity, and family values from dad. Inquisitive and perceptive mind, compassionate and caring, and sharp wit from mom. But I have noticed a new personality trait in him since his engagemet to Hannah and it is no surprise. Michael has a better understanding of responsibility, and a calmness that comes with a new found confidence driving him to succeed and make an impact.

I think this will help me to gather my thoughts on how I want to finish my toast, something like, May you continue to nurture each others potential, accept each others criticisms, overlook each others flaws, and fulfill one another needs.

To you Mike and Hannah, we wish you a long and happy life together! Salud.

So much going on in the world today

This has been a crazy year already...and this weekend is going to be just as crazy. It is my brother's bachelor party, and we have prepared a great party for him. It starts at the Ballpark in Arlington with the (1st Place) Rangers takingon the lowely Oakland Athletics. From there we will be picked up by a sweet party bus-limo to take us out on the town.

Where we go is still undecided, we will leave that up to the guys on-board.
Other happeneings this year include me winning the Byron Nelson:

against this guy: John Daly

taking in the Yankee butt whipping of the Rangers on Memorial Day:

And so much more...check out my Picassa web album for tons of pics!

Project: Dining Room Chairs

Here are images of the chairs, as you can see they needed some serious work. Sanding, stripping in some areas, and a lot of paint.

The next batch will be of the finished product.

2009 Projects

The project list is going to be a long one, but I am glad to say that the first project is underway. Grayson and I purchased 4 antique chairs from the Antique Roadshow here in Dallas. We got the chairs for $80. They are in decent shape, some more sturdy than others. They are currently an ugly brown with red seat cushions. The project includes stripping, sanding and repainting. I am through the first phase, stripping and sanding, and they already look 10X better. I purchased a basic spray gun for painting them. We are going with a glossy black that should look great in the dining room.

Pics on Monday!

Goal Update

As 2009 begins to fly by, I am going to stay committed to attaining my goals.

Goal 1: Hit the GYM - well, Grayson and I have signed up for a 2 year commitment to Gold's Gym at White Rock Lake (formerly White Rock Athletic Club).

This is a very good start, on to eating healthy and saving money....

January Goals

'09 is going to be a HUGE year and I am extremely excited. Married on December 6th, 2008, bought a home in September, and started a new position with my current company as a conferencing account executive. So, I decided to post my Goals as they come to mind and see how quickly I can accomplish them and which ones will direct my path in life and help create long term goals.

Goals:

1. The obvious...Hit the Gym HARD and get in shape. Being physically active this year is a must. There is no excuse for not taking the time to dedicate an hour everyday, especially when my new gym is literally a block away.

2. Eat out LESS...this goal will help in a couple of areas, one area being my diet, the other my bank account. By eating better and at home can only benefit my health and wealth.

3. save, Save, SAVE...my goal is to save a percentage of my income every pay check. I will accomplish this goal without a doubt in my mind, I am going to do this by allocating 25% of my salary and commission directly into a savings account...

4. Practice patience...I tend to fly off the handle at certain things or lose my cool under stress (not overly stressed, but have enough). I am not sure how to accomplish this, but it is definitely something I want to work on.

5. Work Harder than the competition...I have a huge opportunity to make a giant leap professionally with my new position. First the money is better, and the opportunity to sell is there. First In - Last Out.

6. Travel - Hit the road and the airways...I would like to visit New York, St. John, and Costa Rica this year. It is going to be a busy year with a ton of weddings already on the calendar, but I think we can fit at least one of these each quarter...this is a stretch, but I will keep pics posted as they become reality.

That is all for now, but I intend to keep this up-to-date for my friends and family as well as for myself.
